Do you currently still call ISDN and want to switch to a VoIP PBX? Then it's a good idea to take a moment to consider whether it's better to purchase or rent the funding for this, both have their advantages and disadvantages.
VoIP PBX costs
If you want to make Voice over IP calls, you need to consider a new telephone system and new telephones. Specifically, there are 3 costs when switching:
- IP telephones
- IP telephone exchange
- Implementation costs
It is difficult to talk about general prices, much depends on what exactly you need. However, we can give general guidelines in the cost of switching to Voice over IP
Purchase
The big advantage in purchasing telephones and the PBX is that they are your property. Even in the long run, purchase is cheaper than renting handsets or the PBX.
However, sometimes it is smarter to use your cash for other purposes. Phones can quickly become obsolete, requiring you to invest in new ones within a few years.
- IP phone handsets: average €125 per handset
- IP telephone exchange: between €1,000 and €10,000
- Implementation costs; between €250 and €2,500
Much depends on what features and number of simultaneous calls the IP PBX must be able to handle.
Rental agreement
The big advantage of a rental agreement is that you don't have to invest at all. You pay a fixed amount per user for both the phone device, the PBX and the implementation.
This allows you to use your cash for other purposes and have new phones every 5 years without investing. Just keep in mind that in the long run, renting is slightly more expensive than buying.
Only guidelines for rental price all included:
- 5 to 20 devices: €11 per device/month
- 21 to 50 devices: €8 per device/month
- + 50 devices: €5 per device / month
